Who is eligible to enrol in the DTAL program?
The
program is available to 16 to 18 year olds (from 16th to 19th birthday)
who are current residents in NT for the previous 3 months.
To undertake the DTAL Program you must be prepared to act in a responsible
manner
and take your obligations seriously:
Contact the DTAL co-ordinator at JET to book in for a Theory 1 course.
Remember you must have turned 16 years of age.
If you are not attending a school you can still enrol for DTAL.

WHEN YOU ENROL
Pay $33 to JET (22/59 Elder St, Alice Springs) when you enrol for
each of the Theory Courses
1. Provide proof of your age (Birth Certificate) and residency,
if you are enrolled at school, Student ID card.
2. Provide a consent form signed by parent/guardian if you are under
17 years of age.

Attend Theory 1 course and assessment.
If successful, your instructor will issue you a numbered logbook
with the 12 subsidised Vouchers and will sign the DTAL Certificate
of Competency Theory 1 in the back of your logbook.
You
will be issued with a homework sheet at the end of your Theory 1 lesson.
This must be completed and handed in at your Theory 2 lesson.
Present
the original copy (green) of the DTAL Certificate of Competency Theory
1 at the nearest Motor Vehicle Registry Office together with your
birth certificate and proof of residency.
If you are under 17 years of age you will need a parent or guardian
to attend with you or take a statutory declaration signed by your
parent/guardian giving you permission to obtain a Learner’s
License. DEET will cover the cost of your Learner’s License.
